India all-rounder Vijay Shankar was ruled out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 after his toe was injured in a practice session with fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Shankar is going home because of the injury.
“Vijay got hit on the toe by a Jasprit Bumrah delivery once again. His situation is not great and he won’t be able to take part in the tournament. He is going back home,” said a BCCI representative in an interview with PTI.
